Ok, let's start with the fact that almost NO ONE likes having their photo taken. Sure, you love having those beautiful moments displayed on your walls and social media, but it's the GETTING THERE that too often feels like an overwhelming task. Trust me, every time I do photographs for my own family I initially feel that same sense of dread. Working with me is different. We will plan your shoot TOGETHER and talk through every detail. We will eliminate any worries you may have regarding location, wardrobe, or posing, so by the time your shoot arrives, you'll be just as excited as I am for it!
Are we a good fit?
I believe the work we put in prior to your shoot will determine the outcome, which is why I have developed a special prep guide to get you started. I want you to feel prepared and confident for the big day. We will also utilize tools like Pinterest and Zoom to collaborate and plan your entire shoot. I've seen the inside of many closets (both clean and not) and trust me, I love it! Not sure what to wear, or if that dress you love will photograph well? Let's do a video chat and I'll tell you! I'll sip my wine and be your virtual bestie while we figure out what looks best on you! You'll also have access to hundreds of dresses and professional clothes in my studio wardrobe. It's like shopping in Carrie Bradshaw's closet!
prepping for your shoot
Your day is here! The weather is perfect and even though you woke up with an unwelcome zit on your forehead, you know I've got you (with a little help from my friend photoshop) so you don't even stress. Our prep work has paid off and now we get to just have fun! While I do believe good posing can be the difference between having a double chin or no chin, and can make you look like you lost that 10 lbs you just didn't get around to losing, I capture real moments. We will play and laugh and at the end of your session, you'll be so excited to see what we created that you probably won't sleep. Unless you are a mom and well, sleep is just too valuable, but you can sleep like a baby knowing we created something awesome together!

If you booked a portrait session, it's time to choose a package that fits your needs. I truly believe portraits should be printed and preserved for future generations, but I also know you want those digitals. Choose a package that works for you and you'll get both!
If you booked a Branding session, I know that you just need digitals. That's why instead of including prints, I offer you a digital image suite that includes the retouched, full resolution files as well as the social media sized files and a cutout of each image. That way, you'll have images that are ready to use immediately, or can be sent to your marketing department!

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PHOTOGRAPHER?
Forever! Haha! Throughout high school and college I photographed weddings with my dad, and I completed a Fine Arts undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado, Boulder. I started my own photography business after my son was born in 2008, and I've had a camera (or two!) in my hands ever since!
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR PHOTOS?
Good question because this is SO IMPORTANT! I'll be sending you a comprehensive guide that includes instructions on what to wear, items to bring, and how to style your hair for the best possible photoshoot. I respect your unique style and will definitely work within that, but I want to help you find things that photograph well. I also have an extensive studio wardrobe at your disposal. If you want to go a little glam or boho and don't want to invest in new clothing, I'll be happy to send you my catalog with all the fun choices!
WILL YOU PHOTOSHOP US?
I always take out blemishes, bruises, or anything that wouldn't normally be there. Professional retouching is included in your session, and meant to make you look like your best self...but still you.
DO YOU SELL RAW FILES AND/OR PACKAGES WITH ALL OUTTAKES?
I do not and here's why...I believe that half the magic is in the style of retouching that a photographer uses. This element is a big part of why you hire someone and we don't like to share our secrets or release unfinished work. I promise to never leave photos out of your gallery that I know you would love!
WHAT IF THERE'S BAD WEATHER?
I so desperately wish I could control the weather! I encourage you to embrace whatever type of weather we encounter during your session (within reason). After all, snow portraits are always beautiful, and we can get absolutely gorgeous images in both cloudy and overcast weather as well as full sun! If I think it's going to be too windy (my least fav) or that the weather might ruin the photos (or my gear), then we will absolutely reschedule.
HOW SOON WILL I RECEIVE MY IMAGES?
I generally book about a month or two out and have a cancellation waitlist. Your photo reveal will be scheduled about two weeks after your session date. Digital products will be available within a few days of your reveal, but physical products can take up to 6 weeks to arrive.
HOW MANY IMAGES WILL I HAVE TO CHOOSE FROM?
The number of images you'll have to choose from in your gallery depends on the session you choose; longer sessions will yield more images. A Basic session will provide at least 25 choices, and a Custom session usually produces around 150 choices. l only include the absolute best images (since I want you to buy them all!) and I ensure that each one is retouched to perfection!
WHAT IS A BRANDING SESSION?
In a nutshell, branding images are going to elevate your business. A strong brand gives your business credibility, which creates trust and loyalty. During your branding session, we’ll create compelling imagery to promote you and your business or products. You can then utilize these images in any way that makes sense for your brand, such as website design, social media content, headshots, brochures...the options are limitless. When you book a branding session, we will customize it to you and your business to ensure the images you present to the world are memorable and impactful; we want you to stand out from the crowd!
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PERSONAL AND BUSINESS BRANDING?
It's a little bit like wine and cheese, you're probably going to want a little of both! YOU are likely the face of your business whether you are selling a product, promoting a company, or offering your unique services. Personal Branding photography generally starts with YOU as the focus of your business. Images might include shots of you working, personality shots, illustrative images that reflect you doing well...anything that furthers the connection between your audience and YOU! After all, to be any kind of influence in this world people need to know, like, and trust YOU!
Business Branding starts with the WHY behind your business, why you do what you do, and designing images of the who, what, and where that bring your WHY to fruition. As a competitive, thriving business you may have several faces that represent you. Business Branding will create a cohesive reflection of your team. Your services or products are likely the heart of your business and they need to be photographed in a way that fully represents all they can offer! Photographing your place of business, the process, the people, the feeling you create... that's Business Branding. When you put genuine, illustrative, and powerful images out into the world, people will find and fall in love with your business.
WHERE CAN I USE MY PHOTOS?
I mean, where CAN'T you use your photos?! Branding photos are used in every space that promotes and represents you and your business. This includes your website, social media, marketing collateral, press and any place where you'd need a headshot. Don't forget your Google Business profile, as well as Yelp and Linked In; you need consistent and impactful branding images across every platform.
WHAT IF I JUST NEED DIGITAL IMAGES?
You're in luck! Branding packages are designed to give you exactly what you need. Each package comes with a specified number of digital images. If you need more, simply purchase and download them right from your gallery.
WHERE CAN I SHOOT MY BRANDING SESSION?
This depends entirely on what illustrates your business best, and location is just one of the many items we will discuss in great detail prior to your session. Do you need some clean working photos and headshots? The studio would be perfect. Do you want to show off your space and process? Let us come to you! Do you need a variety of images in several different locations? We've got you! We're here to help you get exactly what you need out of your branding session. If you join our Quarterly Branding membership, you can choose from a selection of beautiful curated locations that showcase your brand!
WHAT IS YOUR TURNAROUND TIME?
You're probably anxious to see your photos (and post a little sneak peek on Instagram). We get it! We promise to deliver your images as quickly as possible, while not sacrificing our commitment to careful selection and professional retouching. Following your session, it typically takes around two weeks to get your gallery fully uploaded and available for you to choose your images. At that point, you can request additional retouching, web-sized files, and added color adjustment such as black and white etc. You'll have those files in your download folder before you know it!
HOW MANY IMAGES WILL I GET TO CHOOSE FROM?
The package you select determines the number of downloadable images that are included in your session but you can expect to see at least twice as many in your gallery, so you'll have plenty to choose from. Need more? You can always download extra images individually or in packages from your gallery.
HOW DO WE PLAN MY BRANDING SESSION?
This is the fun part! We will send you a comprehensive guide to complete, which will give us a clear starting point. Once we have identified the basics of who you are and what you do, we'll discuss locations and timelines. We'll talk about your logo and how to incorporate your brand colors. We'll discuss styling and props; each detail of your shoot will be planned to reflect your vision and accomplish your goals. Finally, we'll create an awesome shot list for your big day. Throughout the process, we'll collaborate on ideas using Pinterest to share boards back and forth. We don't like to leave things to chance; we want to execute your exact vision so we do everything we can to ensure we're on the same page and you have the best experience and shoot possible!
WHAT DO I WEAR FOR MY BRANDING SESSION?
Well... what do you do and how do you want to be represented? Clothing is important and we will not only give you suggestions based on your goals but we are also happy to jump on a video chat and visit your closet or shopping cart to talk about what looks best on you.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE SURE MY IMAGES MATCH MY CURRENT PERSONAL AND BUSINESS BRANDING?
Research baby! We want to know YOU so we can create sessions that help you and move you forward towards your goals. We'll discuss your current branding to find out what is working and what isn't. What do you LOVE about your current images and brand? What do you wish was different? We'll look at your current colors, logo, website, messaging, and images and nail down exactly how we can help you take your branding to the next level.
WHAT ARE QUARTERLY BRANDING SESSIONS AND WHY DO I NEED THEM IN MY LIFE?
Quarterly Branding Sessions are for businesses and brands that need constant updates to their content! We offer a selection of beautifully curated locations each month and as a subscriber, you can choose up to 4 per year. Each session is 1 hour and includes 25 images. The packages are at a substantial discount from our regular sessions and make it easy to keep your images fresh and up to date. OK, FULL TRANSPARENCY, HOW HARD IS THIS GOING TO BE FOR ME? I'M TOTALLY OVERWHELMED AS IT IS.
Oh my goodness friend, I can completely relate! I get that the thought of diving into a branding session might feel daunting with all the planning and time and cost involved. Here's the thing...you NEED this for your business to thrive! These days do you even have a business if it isn't represented online? Can it be considered reputable, legal, special, or worthy of someone else's time and money if that person can't SEE it online? I understand why this might feel overwhelming, but think of us as your business besties who just can't wait to show you off! We'll take care of the hard stuff and hold your hand through the entire process. In the end, you'll have the perfect images to help make you and your business fully SEEN, REPRESENTED, and THRIVING.
WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT?
If something comes up and you are unable to make it to your appointment, I provide one opportunity to reschedule. I require a minimum of 24 hours notice and your new session date must be within 12 months of the original date. If you cancel your appointment, or reschedule with less than 24 hours notice, your session fee is non-refundable. To re-book, you'll need to pay a new session fee.
DO YOU TRAVEL OR DO PEOPLE TRAVEL TO YOU?
Both actually! Colorado is a stunning place to visit and many people like to include a photoshoot as part of their vacation! I will also travel to you (or with you!) on request. I periodically plan Destination Sessions around the world that you can travel to and be photographed without paying a travel fee. If you are interested in dates/locations/information about these types of sessions, just reach out!
DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH WEDDINGS?
While I don't photograph big weddings anymore, I looooove elopements and very small weddings! To me, the very best parts of photographing a wedding are the portraits of the couple themselves and the ceremony. I have found that the larger the wedding, the less time we have for these precious photos. Eloping? Want epic couple's shots? Contact me for availability and pricing. If you are planning a large wedding, I am happy to recommend some awesome photographers who totally dig the chaos!
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE LOCATIONS TO SHOOT?
Oh man, this question is like asking, "What's your favorite cheese?". They're ALL good! We live in the most beautiful state in the U.S.! However, if I'm forced to pick a few favorites, there are some incredible locations around Boulder such as the South Mesa Trail, Chautauqua, Flagstaff Mountain, and Lost Gulch Lookout. The top of Berthoud Pass is a favorite, as well as several locations around Winter Park. I could go on and on, but the point is that you really can't go wrong and together we'll find the perfect spot for YOUR photoshoot.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STUDIO AND OUTDOOR PORTRAITS?
Studio sessions are generally cleaner, more artistic, and more private. Boudoir sessions are usually done in studio, as well as most contemporary portraits. Family shoots are generally done outdoors but can be amazing in the studio as well. Outdoor sessions are more lifestyle based. We play, we laugh, and we capture the moment. Select a session package that includes both and get the best of both worlds!
DO YOU OFFER PAYMENT PLANS AND HOW DO THEY WORK?
Session fees must be paid in full to book your appointment but I do offer payment plans on all product purchases. I am happy to split your purchase into either two or three payments. As soon as your account is paid in full, your product will be available for pickup. You can also apply for Square Capital or Paypal credit and manage your installments yourself. It's an easy 4 question application online.
